Malaysian badminton talent took center stage over the weekend, with young shuttlers making waves at the Dutch Junior Open and the Sri Lanka International Challenge.
At the Dutch Junior Open, Dania Sofea Zaidi-Low Zi Yu captured their maiden international girls' doubles title in emphatic fashion. The duo dominated Japan’s Yurika Nagafuchi-Mao Oishi, clinching victory 21-10, 21-10 in just 32 minutes to mark a memorable triumph on the European stage.
Dania also showcased her prowess in the mixed doubles event, partnering Datu Anif Isaac Datu Asrah to reach the final. Despite a valiant effort, the national pair fell short against China’s Chen Jun Ting-Chen Fan Shutian, going down 17-21, 14-21 in a hard-fought contest.
Meanwhile, at the Sri Lanka International Challenge, professional shuttler Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin clinched the men’s singles title by overcoming India’s Pranay Katta with a composed 21-19 21-15 victory in Colombo.
