The country’s rising stars Justin Hoh and K Letshanaa did the nation proud by winning the men’s and women’s singles titles at the Uganda International Badminton Championships today.

18-year-old Justin, ranked world No. 111 swept the men’s title at the MTN Arena in Kampala by defeating M Kanishq of India 21-8 21-12 in straight sets.

The title win was the Kuala Lumpur-born shuttler’s fourth career senior international title after having bagged the Bonn International 2022 in Germany, Croatian Open in  June and PETRONAS Malaysia International Challenge in Ipoh, Perak last December.

Letshanaa meanwhile swept aside her much experienced counterpart, Neslihan Yigit of Turkey 21-11 21-8 to win her maiden international title this year.

In Milan, Datuk Misbun Sidek's charges romped to a two title finish by defeating top seeded opponents at the Italia Junior 2023.

Women's singles, Ung Yi Xing claimed a famous win by dismantling Sirada Roongpiboonsopit 22-20 21-16 to seal her career-first title.

In the men's doubles, third seeds, Kang Khai Xing-Aaron Tai overthrown Spaniards, Daniel Franco-Rodrigo Sanjunrjo 29-27 21-14.

Melaka-born Aaron fell short of capping his second title of the night after losing 19-21 15-21 to Thailand's Tanakorn Meechai-Fungfa Korptammakit in the mixed doubles final alongside Chan Wen Tse.
