#SEAGAMES2023 MALAYSIA NAMES A YOUTHFUL LINEUP

The national shuttlers selected to compete in the forthcoming Cambodia SEA Games will have the opportunity to prove themselves as they battle to securely medals when the event is held from May 5-16. With the leading players all focussed on the BWF Sudirman Cup, BAM today named a batch of their rising stars to compete in the biennial event.

National singles player Leong Jun Hao, 24, is the oldest while Chia Wei Jie and Chong Hon Jian, who are both 24, will be among the more experienced in the men’s team. BAM also named Justin Hoh, 19, and Ong Ken Yon as the other singles players. For the men’s doubles, Goh Boon Sze, Rayner Beh, Wei Jie and Liew Xun have been given the task of creating an impact and help the national team in their quest for medals.

The others in the men’s team are mixed doubles players Yap Roy King and Hon Jian while Lee Shun Yang has been named as a reserve. With an average age of 20-years-old, the women’s team will be led by singles players Tan Zhing Yi and Siti Nurshuhaini. Wong Ling Ching will also feature in the singles while Cheng Su Hui, Chen Su Yin, Valeree Siow, Lee Xin Jie and Low Yeen Yuan are down for the doubles. Ong Xin Yee, who at 17-years is the youngest, has been listed as a reserve.
