Malaysia’s unstoppable run continued as they brushed aside Estonia 2-0 in the quarter-finals, storming into the last-four, while guaranteeing a medal in the team event.
Tiew Wei Jie handed Malaysia the early advantage with an 11-7 win over Karl Mattias Pedai, while Low Zi Yu-Teh Xin Ying followed suit to extend the lead 22-13 against Kaisa Liis Lepp-Romili Vakk.
Carine Tee endured the longest match of the tie, lasting 12 minutes against Marija Paskotsi 33-26, before Zulwaqqarizal Ahmad-Low Zi Yu comfortably defeated Priit Poder-Kaisa Liis Lepp 44-29 in just four minutes.
Isyraf Hafizin Ibrahim-Zulwaqqarizal Ahmad then wrapped up the first round on a winning note, eased past Karl Mattias Pedai-Priit Poder 55-35 to put Malaysia 1-0 ahead.
The winning momentum carried into the second round as Wei Jie registered an 11-6 victory over Marti Joost, with Low Zi Yu-Nur Aina Maisarah Hatta then widening the advantage to 22-11 against Lumikki Liias-Marija Paskotsi.
Carine had little trouble dispatching Romili Vakk 33-14 in a four-minute encounter, before Shazmir Irfan Sharul-Nur Aina Maisarah Hatta added another convincing result of 44-16 over Rasmus Roogsoo-Lumikki Liias in just three minutes.
With the scoreline firmly in Malaysia’s favour, Damien Ling-Shazmir Irfan Sharul swiftly concluded the second round, earning a 55-20 win over Marti Joost-Rasmus Roogsoo.
Malaysia are set to face 2024 champions Indonesia with the final place at stake later this Friday.
