Wan Arif Wan Junaidi and Yap Roy King secured their first BWF World Tour Super 300 title with a gritty straight-game victory over Indonesia’s world No. 8 Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in the men’s doubles final of the Macau Open 2025.
The world No. 24 Malaysians avenged their past defeats to the Indonesians - including last year’s Spain Masters final with a determined 22-20 21-18 win in 79 minutes at the East Asian Games Dome. The result snapped a three-match losing streak against their long-time rivals and marked a breakthrough moment in Arif-Roy King's young partnership.
In the men’s singles, Justin Hoh capped a commendable week by reaching his first career World Tour final, before falling to Indonesia’s world No. 25 Alwi Farhan 15-21 5-21. The 20-year-old had an impressive run in Macau, registering wins over higher-ranked opponents including Ayush Shetty, Kantaphon Wangcharoen, and Tharun Mannepalli.
Meanwhile, independent mixed doubles pair Jimmy Wong and Lai Pei Jing also reached the final, but were stopped short by Denmark’s unseeded Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje, losing 13-21 16-21.
