Malaysia's quest for double victory at the Arctic Open came up short, with Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun falling in the men's doubles final. They succumbed to a 21-18 21-17 defeat at the hands of world No. 7 Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark, once again missing out on a coveted Super 500 title.
Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, who boast three Super 300 titles, marked their second Super 500 final appearance this year, having previously been runners-up at the PERODUA Malaysia Masters presented by Daihatsu in May. Unfortunately, their loss dashed Malaysia's hopes of securing two champions in Super 500 tournaments or higher for the first time in the World Tour era.
In an earlier all-Malaysian final, Lee Zii Jia claimed victory in the men's singles final, defeating Ng Tze Yong 21-14 21-15.
The previous all-Malaysian final in a World Tour level event was between Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei and Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin at the Malaysia Masters GP Gold 2016 in Penang.
