The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have released a 24-man squad list for the upcoming 2019 Badminton Asia Junior U-17 & U-15 Championships in Surabaya, Indonesia. 

Led by 2018 U-15 boys’ doubles champions, Fazriq Razif and Justin Hoh, the list also featured 13 year-olds; Ong Xin Yee, Carmen Ting, Lai Ting Chen and Siti Zulaikha Muhammad Azmi Tan.

The junior squad will report for centralized training camp on 2 December at Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara.

National U-18 head coach, Kwan Yoke Meng said: “This is a good squad comprised of talented players that are ranked as top juniors in their respective categories. These youngsters were the outstanding performers (semi-finalists and finalists) in the National 100PLUS Junior Circuit GP Finals (U-16 & U-14) in Negeri Sembilan in July.

“From my point of view, there are a number of medal prospects most notably; Fazriq-Justin, Eogene and Boon Zhe-Rayner.

“I have faith in these young players. I hope that we’ll be able to improve as a team and fine-tune not only their abilities but also their self-confidence and team spirit during the centralized training camp."
