Just 24 hours after securing their quarter-final berth against South Korea, Malaysia’s national junior badminton squad rose to the occasion once again, defeating arch-rivals Indonesia 2-1 in a thrilling Group D tie at the Yatsushiro City General Gymnasium today.
With the victory, Malaysia finished as Group D champions, securing a seeded position for the knockout stage of the 2026 Badminton Asia Junior Championships.
Damien Ling and Muhammad Shazmir Irfan got Malaysia off to a strong start, edging out Muhammad Rizki Mubarrok and Raihan Daffa Edsel Pramono 11-10 in a hard-fought 10-minute rally.

Kong Wei Xiang sealed Malaysia's victory with a composed performance against Fardhan Rainanda Joe, clinching the final match 55-48 to spark celebrations on the Malaysian bench.
Malaysia has been drawn to face China in the quarterfinals.
