The semi-finals saw Malaysia's remaining two pairs battle for places in their respective finals against formidable opponents.
In the mixed doubles, second seeds Ahmad Redzuan-Low Zi Yu claimed the opener with 21-16 against the seventh-seeded Sheng Ming Lin-Liang Ching Sun from Chinese Taipei.
The second set was neck and neck as both sides refused to give in, before Redzuan-Zi Yu narrowly fell 23-25.
However, the Malaysians regrouped in the decider, producing a commanding display to seal a 21-10 victory and book their place in the final.
Meanwhile, fourth seeds Genevie Lim and Low Zi Yu settled for bronze after falling to Japan's second seeds Aoi Banno and Yuzu Ueno (21-16, 17-21, 17-21) in a hard-fought three-game encounter.
Redzuan and Zi Yu will now take on China's Wei Gang Zheng and Li Meng Han in the mixed doubles final.
