Malaysia kicked off its Asia Junior Championships 2026 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Macau China in Group D at the Yatsushiro City General Gymnasium.
Drawn into a challenging group alongside Indonesia, South Korea and Macau China, the national junior squad made a positive start to its campaign.
National Under-18 2025 champion Kong Wei Xiang contributed a point in the boys' singles (55-16) against Ou Ka Hou from Macau China, while world junior No. 11 Carine Tee led the girls' singles challenge with a victory over Ung Cheok Han (22-11).
Malaysia's boys' doubles pair Ahmad Redzuan and Isyraf Hafizin continued their impressive form with a convincing win over Chio Chi Seng and Ou Ka Hou (11-3).
In the mixed doubles, Muhammad Shazmir Irfan and Genevie Lim defeated Lei Lok Him and Ian Chi Cheng (33-14), while Low Zi Yu and Genevie Lim added another point with victory over Ian Chi Cheng and Ung Cheok Ian (44-15).
Tan Xin Yu and Teh Si Yan also prevailed in the women's doubles against Macau China's Chi Cheng and Cheok Ian (44-24).
The tie was completed with Tiew Wei Jie securing victory in the final men's singles match against Ou Ka Hou (55-31).
Malaysia will next face South Korea in their second Group D fixture.
