Malaysia's doubles pairs guaranteed the nation two medals after progressing to the semi-finals, while both men's singles representatives bowed out in the quarter-finals.

Eighth seed Kong Wei Xiang bowed out after a narrow defeat to Indonesia's Fardhan Rainanda Joe (19-21, 20-22), falling just short of forcing a deciding game.

Tiew Wei Jie suffered a similar fate, losing a hard-fought three-game battle to China's Hong Tian Yue (21-16, 19-21, 21-23).

On the other hand, second seeds Ahmad Redzuan and Low Zi Yu booked their place in the mixed doubles semi-finals after defeating Indonesia's Moses Andar Simanjuntak and Reya Azzahra Yulianti (19-21, 21-15, 21-9).

Zi Yu, who competed in both the mixed doubles and women's doubles, secured another semi-final berth alongside Genevie Lim after overcoming China's Si Chen Shi and Xiang Yu Jin (21-12, 21-19), guaranteeing Malaysia at least two bronze medals at the championships.
