The day opened with mixed doubles World No. 4 pair Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei, who secured a confident win over Taipei’s World No. 17 duo Ye Hong Wei–Nicole Gonzales Chan, 21–17 21–15.
Following that, men’s doubles World No. 4 pair Goh Sze Fei–Izzuddin Rumsani booked their spot in the quarterfinals after edging past the scratch Malaysian–Korean combination Goh V Shem–Choi Sol Gyu in a thrilling battle, 21–13 20–22 22–20.
Meanwhile, World No. 5 men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong–Tee Kai Wun showed a promising start but eventually fell to Indonesia’s World No.32 duo Raymond Indra–Nikolas Joaquin, 15–21, 21–19, 15–21.
The quarterfinals stage will feature two Malaysian representatives—one in the men’s doubles event and one in the mixed doubles category.
