Letshanaa Karupathevan pulled off a stunning upset over the India’s Tanvi Sharma in a straight games (21-19, 21-14). Meanwhile, her teammates Goh Jin Wei and Wong Ling Ching bowed out to Japan's Tomoka Miyazaki (12-21, 15-21) and India's Pusarla Venkata Sindhu (21-15, 11-21, 19-21), in women's singles.
World No. 2 Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik secured a convincing win with a consistent performance, defeating Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Hsiang-Chieh and Wang Chi-Lin (21-15, 21-15).

World No. 2 Pearly Tan-Thinaah Muralitharan secured a comfortable victory against the Hongkong duo (21-14, 21-11). Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting beat their fellow teammates Chong Jie Yu and Vanessa Ng (21-9, 21-14) to advance to the next round.
Debutants, Low Zi Yu and Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan saw their journey end in the Round of 32 after a defeat to Chinese Taipei’s Hsieh Pei-Shan and Hung En-tzu (12-21, 16-21).
