Amid a series of tough challenges, only three Malaysian doubles pairs advanced to the quarter-finals.
National mixed doubles, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei extended their head-to-head lead to 3-1 against the Indian pair Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto (21-13, 21-14), while Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai dominated the first set before falling down to Chen Cheng Kuan and Hsu Yin-Hui from Chinese Taipei (21-10, 15-21, 16-21).
Wong Tien Ci and Lim Chiew Sin were also eliminated to the sixth-seeded Guo Xin Wa and Chen Fang Hui from China (8-21, 14-21).
National men's doubles, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik again secured another victory to qualify for the next round, defeating China’s Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yi (22-20, 21-19).
Meanwhile, World No. 2 Pearly Tan-Thinaah Muralitharan kept their campaign on track after earning a hard-fought victory over the Taiwanese pair Hsu Yin-Hui and Lin Jhih-Yun (21-19, 19-21, 24-22).
The young duo Carmen Ting-Ong Xin Yee put up a fight but fell to a higher ranked opponent from Japan, World No. 7 Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi (18-21, 14-21).
Letshanaa Karupathevan exited in Round of 16, bowing out to Korea’s Sim Yu Jin (14-21, 8-21).
