The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) successfully held the 2nd Council Meeting for the year 2024 at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil. Below are the notable decisions reached:
PERFORMANCE-BASED INCENTIVES FOR STATE BA’S
While BAM recently increased financial assistance to State BAs for development purposes, the Council today approved the refined distribution criteria for the performance-based incentive scheme.
Amongst the newly approved criteria include States being compensated for providing players to the ABM and States who perform well in the Junior Elite Tour will be rewarded according to performance.
CLUB ACCREDITATION SYSTEM
As we've emphasized previously, our Association remains committed to strengthening the badminton ecosystem.
To encourage the development of badminton clubs and broaden stakeholder engagement at the grassroots level, the Task Force recommends implementing an ‘Accreditation System for Clubs’ similar to systems used in Europe.
Clubs that earn accreditation from BAM will receive official recognition from BAM, which includes certificates.
BAM ACTING PRESIDENT
The Council has unanimously agreed for Deputy President I, Datuk V Subramaniam, to assume the role of Acting President until the 2025 BAM Elections as per the BAM Constitution. This change will take effect after the Paris Olympics.
