Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) today announced the list of players selected to lead Malaysia’s challenge at the BWF World Junior Championships in Spokane, United States from 25 September to 8 October.

Players were selected based on the following criteria, and with input from the panel of junior coaches led by Pang Cheh Chang and Hazwan Jamaluddin:

• Junior world rankings

• Past six months performance

As part of their preparations for the tough battle that lies ahead of them in Washington, the players had been training with the senior national squad as well as participating in the recently concluded 2023 Malaysia Junior International Challenge in Perlis, where Eogene Ewe Eon (BS) and Kang Khai Xing-Aaron Tai (BD) won their respective categories.

The team, led by BAM Vice President cum Perlis BA President, Aamar Hashim, is expected to leave for Spokane on 21 September.

“After the Asian Championships, we identified areas that required attention. Over the last few weeks, the players have been pushing hard in training, and we are pleased with their commitment and discipline. We know it will be difficult going up against the other teams," said Joanne Quay, Deputy Director of Youth Development.

“Training and sparring sessions with the national players had been excellent. It was also motivating and inspiring for us juniors to be playing alongside our seniors,” said Eogene.
