Malaysia’s campaign at the China Masters 2025 saw a blend of strong wins and tough setbacks on the second day at the Shenzhen Arena.

In mixed doubles, Cheng Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei defeated the American pair Chen Zhi Yi–Franscessa Corbett 21–12 21–14.

Following up with another solid performance, Hoo Pang Ron–Cheng Su Yin overcame Indonesia’s Adnan Maulana–Indah Jamil in straight games, 21–6 21–14.

However, men’s doubles pair Ong Yew Sin–Teo Ee Yi fell short against Taipei’s Chu Hsiang-Chen–Wang Chi-Lin, losing 10–21 7–21.

In men’s singles, Leong Jun Hao edged past Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting 21–19 5–21 21–10 after a tense three-game battle.

India’s top men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy–Chirag Shetty proved too strong for Malaysia’s young duo Arif Junaidi–Yap Roy King, winning 24–22, 21–13 in 42 minutes.

Meanwhile, Lee Zii Jia retired from his men’s singles clash against Taiwan’s Lin Chun-Yi due to injury. After losing the opener 17–21 and taking the second 23–21, Zii Jia was forced to withdraw in the decider while trailing 6–14.

Fifth seeds Man Wei Chong–Tee Kai Wun closed Malaysia’s day with a hard-fought 21–11 25–27 21–15 win over France’s Popov brothers; Christo and Toma Junior.
