National men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik narrowly missed out on clinching their first-ever World Tour Super 1000 title after finishing as runners-up at the China Open 2025.

The Tokyo & Paris Olympic bronze medallists were unable to find their rhythm in the final, falling 15-21, 14-21 to Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Shohibul Fikri at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Changzhou.

Despite entering the final in good form, Aaron-Wooi Yik could not break through the aggressive play of the Indonesian pair, who sealed victory in 35 minutes.

This marks the second consecutive runner-up finish for Aaron-Wooi Yik at the China Open, having also reached the final in 2023 before losing to China’s Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang.
