The determined run of national men's doubles, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani at the Denmark Open came to a halt when they bowed out in the last four.

After brave upsets over world No. 10 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty of India and world No. 7 Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia en route to storming into the semi-finals, the world No. 26 went down fighting 21-11 19-21 21-18 to Denmark's Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in Odense.

For the record, it is also the first time that the unheralded pair has reached the semi-finals of a Super 1000 tournament, surpassing their previous best of a quarter-final appearance at the Thailand Open in January this year.

With the French Open set to kick off next Tuesday, the determined Malaysians are already looking ahead to continue their valiant form.

"We weren't at our best in the first game but we always knew we had nothing to lose coming into this match," said Izzuddin.
