The national men’s doubles duo battled past Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama–Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, prevailing 21–19 16–21 21–19 in a tense encounter to keep Malaysia’s campaign alive.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s World No. 2 mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei bowed out in the quarter-finals after falling to Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man–Tse Ying Suet, 9–21 18–21.

In another mixed doubles clash, Goh Soon Huat–Shevon Jemie Lai were unable to overcome China’s World No. 2 Feng Yan Zhe–Huang Dong Ping, losing 18–21 16–21.

The men’s doubles quarter-finals saw Arif Junaidi–Yap Roy King exit after a close contest against Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian–Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, 14–21, 22–24, while Man Wei Chong–Tee Kai Wun went down 21–18 14–21 10–21 to Korea’s top seeds Kim Won Ho–Seo Seung Jae.

Elsewhere, Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin Rumsani fought hard but narrowly lost to Denmark’s Kim Astrup–Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in a thrilling decider, 14–21 21–17 23–25.

In women’s doubles, Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah put up a brave fight before bowing out to China’s World No. 1 pair Chen Qing Chen–Jia Yi Fan, 16–21 16–21.

With all other national pairs bowing out in the quarter-finals, all eyes are now on Aaron and Wooi Yik as they carry Malaysia’s hopes into the semi-finals.
