National men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun advanced to the second round of the Hylo Open 2025 after edging past compatriots Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King in an intense all-Malaysian match in Saarbrücken, Germany.
The World number five duo clinched a hard fought 21-16, 19-21, 21-16 victory in a 53-minute encounter.
Meanwhile Ong Yew Sun-Teo Ee Yi fell short against Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagas Maulana, losing 16-21, 17-21.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun are now set to face Leo Rolly-Bagas Maulana in the second round.
In other matches, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik displayed composure to win against England’s Alex Green-Zach Russ 25-23, 21-14 in the round of 32.
They will next face Jiří Král-Ondřej Král of Czechia.
Adding to the other country’s strong showing, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzudin Rumsani produced a composed performance to overcome Scotland’s Alexander Dunn-Adam Pringle 22-17, 22-20, earning a round of 16 meeting with Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard of Denmark.
