Malaysia’s women’s singles and mixed doubles representatives got off to a winning start on Day 2 of the Hylo Open 2025.

World No. 45 K Letshanaa impressed with a dominant 21–9, 21–15 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Huang Ching Pin, extending her head-to-head lead to 2–0.

Meanwhile, Kisona Selvaduray also advanced to the Round of 16 after overcoming Bulgaria’s Kaloyana Nalbantova 21–9, 22–20.

In mixed doubles, Wong Tien Ci–Lim Chiew Sin triumphed over the Brazilian duo Fabricio Farias–Jaqueline Lima 21–14, 21–17 in straight games, sealing the win in just 30 minutes.

However, it was a tougher outing for the men’s singles shuttlers. Leong Jun Hao’s run ended in the second round after a 14–21, 21–18, 16–21 defeat to India’s Subramanian, trailing their head-to-head record 0–2.

Kok Jing Hong also bowed out after falling 19–21, 18–21 in 44 minutes to the 2019 World Championships bronze medalist. With his exit, Malaysia’s men’s singles challenge came to an end.

In men’s doubles, Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian–Muhammad Shohibul Fikri overcame Nur Azriyn Ayub–Tan Wee Kiong 21–16, 24–22 in an intense 36-minute battle.
