National women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah cruised into the India Open semi-finals at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in India today.
The world No. 2 Malaysian pair beat 9th-ranked Taiwanese pair Hsien Pei Shan-Hung En-Tzu 21-16, 21-10 in a 33 minutes match.
Pearly-Thinaah have now beaten their Taiwanese rivals three times in as many encounters.
In the semi-finals, Pearly-Thinaah will take on Yuki Fukushima-Mayu Matsumoto from Japan.
Men’s doubles Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik joined into the last four after defeating Taiwanese duo Lee Jhe-Huei-Yang Po-Hsuan in straight games, winning 21-19, 21-14 in just 31 minutes.
Aaron-Wooi Yik, who were runners-up in the Malaysia Open last week, will meet Japan’s Hiroki Midorikiwa-Kyohei Yamashita in the semis next.
However, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun struggled to raise their game and went down 21-15, 15-21, 21-19 to the world No. 5 pair from China Liang Weng Kang-Wang Chang.
In the mixed doubles, meanwhile, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai fought gallantly against the World Tour Finals champions Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping of China before losing 19-21, 21-19, 18-21 in a 75 minute match.
