Malaysia recorded mixed results in the Round of 16 at the Indonesia Masters 2026.
In mixed doubles, Malaysia’s World No.4 pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei secured a straight-game victory over Thailand’s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul-Sapsiree Taerattanachai, 21-12 21-18.
Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin, in contrast, saw their campaign come to an end after going down 21-13 21-19 to China’s World No. 6, Guo Xin Wa-Chen Fang Hui.
In the singles events, Karupathevan Letshanaa progressed in the women’s singles with a composed straight-game win over Canada’s experienced World No. 12 Michelle Li, 21-14 21-14.
Lee Zii Jia, on the other hand, bowed out in the men’s singles after being defeated by Thailand’s World No. 44, Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul 15-21 21-18 21-8.
In men’s doubles, the World No. 6 pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun showed resilience to bounce back from a game down and beat India’s Hariharan Amsakarunan-M.R. Arjun 17-21 21-9 21-16.
Choi Sol Gyu-Goh V Shem also edged past China pair Hu Ke-Lin Xiang Yi in a tense 46 minute encounter, winning 23-21 25-23.
Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong fought hard but fell to World No. 7 Indonesian pair, Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani losing 19-21 21-16 21-18.
The day ended on a high note for Malaysia as World No. 9 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin sealed a three game win over China’s Liu Kuang Heng-Yang Po Han, 17-21 21-14 21-16.
