World No. 4 mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei stunned China’s world No. 2 duo Jiang Zhen Bang–Wei Ya Xin in the semifinals, sealing a straight-games victory 21-17 21-12 to book their place in the final.
They were the first Malaysian pair to reach the final after Malaysia’s sole women’s singles representative K. Letshanaa bowed out against Thailand’s Pitchamon Opatniputh, going down 15-21 7-21 to the same opponent who had earlier defeated Wong Ling Ching.
Malaysia’s World No. 2 women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah followed suit by advancing to the final after defeating Indonesia’s Lanny Tria Mayasari–Apriyani Rahayu 21-15 21-9.
In men’s doubles, Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin Rumsani kept Malaysia’s challenge alive by defeating Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard–Mads Vestergaard 21-9 21-15 to secure a spot in the finals.
