Malaysia's challenge reduced to three remaining representatives heading into the quarter-finals.
Women's singles shuttler K. Letshanaa put up a commendable fight but was unable to overcome world No. 3 Akane Yamaguchi, going down (15-21, 18-21).
Leong Jun Hao also saw his campaign come to an end after falling to world No. 8 Alex Lanier of France (16-21, 15-21). Lanier arrived in Jakarta fresh from his Singapore Open triumph last week.
In the mixed doubles, Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie continued their impressive run with a straight-sets victory over Indonesia's world No. 9 pair Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu (21-15, 21-19).
However, Hoo Pang Ron and Lai Pei Jing were unable to progress after a hard-fought defeat to Thailand's world No. 3 pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran (14-21, 22-24).
The men's doubles produced mixed results for Malaysia. World No. 3 pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik were defeated by Indonesia's Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin (14-21, 14-21), while world No. 8 pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani advanced with a convincing win over England's Ben Lane and Sean Vendy (21-11, 21-13).
Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing narrowly missed out on a quarter-final berth after losing to India's Hariharan Amsakarunan and Arjun Madathil Ramachandran in three games (21-16, 15-21, 19-21).
In the women's doubles, world No. 2 pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah maintained their strong form with a straight-sets victory over Chinese Taipei's Hsu Ya Ching and Sung Yu-Hsuan (21-18, 21-19).
Meanwhile, Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting bowed out after a spirited contest against Japan's Rui Hirokami and Sayaka Hobara (14-21, 21-18, 13-21).
