In the men's singles, Leong Jun Hao put up a spirited fight against France's World No. 5 Christo Popov, taking the opening game 21-16 before the Frenchman fought back to win 21-11, 21-17.

Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai, however, were unable to extend their run after falling to China's World No. 2 pair Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin (14-21, 7-21).

Meanwhile, Jimmy Wong-Cheng Su Yin pulled off a major upset by defeating France's World No. 7 pair Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue in two closely contested games (23-21, 24-22).

Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing booked their place in the last eight with a convincing 21-10, 21-15 victory over Chinese Taipei's Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan.

The final Malaysian match saw fifth seeds Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani edge past Denmark's Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (21-18, 21-19).
