Malaysia will be represented by two pairs in the semi-finals after Jimmy Wong-Cheng Su Yin and Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani advanced to the last four in Tokyo.
Mixed doubles pair, Jimmy-Su Yin registered their third consecutive upset in Tokyo after beating third seeds Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Bøje from Denmark in straight sets (21-17, 21-17).
The victory marked Jimmy and Su Yin's first-ever BWF World Tour Super 750 semi-final appearance in just their sixth tournament together since partnering at the PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2026 in May.
Meanwhile, men's doubles pair Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing saw their impressive run come to an end in the quarter-finals after falling to Korea's world No. 1 pair Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae (13-21, 10-21).
Sze Fei-Izzuddin showcased their composure under pressure to overcome America's Chen Zhi Yi-Presley Smith in a thrilling three-game duel, prevailing 21-18, 15-21, 21-13.
