Malaysia’s Chia Weijie–Lwi Sheng Hao also advanced after delivering a consistent performance to overcome Chang Kong Chi–Po Li Wei of Taiwan 21-17 21-17.

However, World No. 84 duo Cheng Su Hui–Tan Zhing Yi saw their campaign come to an end after falling to Taiwan’s World No.34 pair Sung Shuo Yun–Yu Chien Hui 21-17 21-11.

In mixed doubles, Loo Bing Kun–Noraqilah Ramdan started strong but were eventually edged out by Thailand’s Phuwanat Hurbanluwekit–Benyapa Aimsaard 21-17 16-21 11-21.

Meanwhile, in women’s doubles, Chong Jie Yu–Vanessa Ng bowed out to Korea’s World No.21 duo Jeong Na Eun–Lee Yeon Woo 18-21 5-21, while men’s doubles pair Lau Yi Sheng–Lim Tze were defeated by Korea’s Jin Yong–Na Sung Seung 8-21 8-21.
