The opening match saw Malaysia’s World No. 8 mixed doubles pair, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai, outclass China’s Gao Jia Xuan-Wu Meng Ying with a convincing 21-16 21-13 victory.

World No. 35 Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien topple Korea’s World No. 50 pair and also secure their place in the quarterfinals, 9-21 21-15 21-17.

In men’s singles, Justin Hoh pushed the game to the limit but fell short over World No. 2 Anders Antonsen of Denmark with the score of 17-21 11-21.

Meanwhile, men’s doubles duo Choong Hon Jian-Muhammad Haikal Nazri crashed out in the second round against Japan’s World No. 11 pair, Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi, 17-21 11-21.

The focus shifts to tomorrow’s quarterfinals, which will determine the two pairs advancing to the semi final.
