The World No. 2 pair advanced by defeating Japan’s Yuki Fukushima-Mayu Matsumoto 24-22, 23-21 in 57 minutes.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s men’s doubles challenge came to an end as second seeded Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani bowed out in the semifinals.

The independent pair were beaten 12-21, 17-21 by home favourite’s Hiroki Modorikawa-Kyohei Yamashita in 38 minutes.
