Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Denmark’s Kenneth Jonassen as the new national singles head coach.
Following an extensive search, BAM has secured the services of Jonassen, a highly respected figure in international badminton. The 50-year-old Dane has a proven track record, having played a key role in shaping Denmark’s badminton legacy during his 13 years as a coach. Previously, he had also served as the head coach for England.
Jonassen, a former World No. 2 in men’s singles, won prestigious titles such as the German, Korean, Dutch and Singapore Open during his playing career.
As part of his role, Jonassen will collaborate closely with Rexy Mainaky to devise a comprehensive long-term development plan for Malaysia’s singles programme.
Jonassen will officially begin his tenure with BAM on 4 January 2025 under a four-year contract.
