National mixed doubles duo, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, kickstarted Malaysia's Olympics campaign with a victory over Singapore's Terry Hee-Jessica Tan. The pair secured their first point in the Group D match at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena, Paris, with a scoreline of 23-21, 21-12.

Reigning men’s doubles bronze medalists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, buoyed by strong cheers from the spectators, overcame an early setback against Ben Lane-Sean Vendy of Great Britain in their Group A match.

The world number four pair had to stage a comeback from a set down to beat the world number 18 English pair, eventually winning 19-21, 21-16, 21-11. Aaron and Wooi Yik have won four of their five previous matches against Lane and Vendy, but suffered a defeat in their last meeting at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

In the women's doubles, M. Thinaah and Pearly Tan, who are the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games champions, faced a tough 55-minute match against the world number one pair, Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan from China, in Group A action. Despite their best efforts, Thinaah and Pearly Tan lost 17-21, 20-22.
