The PETRONAS Malaysia Junior International Challenge 2026 continued with Day 2 action on 22 July at Stadium Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur.
In the mixed doubles opening round, Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal Ahmad and Teh Si Yan defeated compatriots Yee Tian Ci and Lee Weng Yan 21-13, 21-13 in 28 minutes.
Ahmad Redzuan and Si Yan said they were pleased with their performance after maintaining control throughout the match.
Teh Si Yan credited Waqqa for constantly motivating and supporting her during the match.
Meanwhile, Waqqa said staying focused was the key to securing the victory and emphasised the importance of supporting his partner during crucial moments.
“We just played aggressively and stayed focused on our game,” said Waqqa.
Looking ahead, Redzuan added that they would need to reduce their unforced errors in the next round.
In another mixed doubles match, Irfan Shazmir and Nur Aina Maisarah Hatta defeated the Philippines’ Imari Dawn Jimenez and Ralph Nino Dalojo 21-7, 21-9 in just 20 minutes.
In the women’s singles, Chua Jing Xuan overcame fellow Malaysian Chong Wan Xin 21-17, 21-16.
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles, Kong Wei Xiang defeated compatriot Wong Yin Heng 21-13, 21-9.
