The PETRONAS Malaysia Junior International Challenge 2026 reached the quarter-final stage today at Stadium Titiwangsa, with players battling for places in the semi-finals.

In the men’s singles, Tiew Wei Jie booked his place in the semi-finals after defeating Indonesia’s Yudha Rendra Wijaya 14-21, 21-18, 21-13 in one hour and 10 minutes.

Wei Jie said he was proud to have reached the semi-finals.

“I just stayed focused throughout the match,” said Wei Jie.

He added that his determination to win kept him motivated until the final point.

In the same event, Lim Boon Le defeated Indonesia’s Alif Akbar 21-18, 21-15 to also progress to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles, Isyraf Hafizin and Lee Joinne advanced to the semi-finals after overcoming Indonesia’s Azka Ghani Putri Wardhana and Genta Restu Handika 12-21, 24-22, 21-11.

Isyraf and Joinne credited their victory to strong teamwork throughout the match.

“We didn’t play well in the opening game, but we kept believing in ourselves and fought back to win,” said Isyraf.

In the women’s singles, Lee Kay Xin also progressed to the semi-finals after defeating fellow teammate Jang Sher Ling 21-12, 14-21, 21-18.
