The PETRONAS Malaysia Junior International Challenge 2026 continued at Stadium Titiwangsa today, with players battling for places in the finals.

In the mixed doubles, Irfan Shazmir and Nur Aina Maisarah Hatta advanced to the final after defeating Indonesia’s Faza Iwadh Kurnia Ramdhan and Rachel Machalul Cahya Ayu 21-7, 21-13 in just 24 minutes.

Shazmir and Aina expressed their delight at reaching the final, admitting they had not expected to progress this far.

“We will use everything we have learned against tomorrow’s opponents and hopefully win the title,” said Shazmir.

Aina said her motivation was boosted by the presence of her parents, who were in attendance to support her.

“We will do our best to reduce our unforced errors and read the game better,” she added.

In another mixed doubles semi-final, Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal Ahmad and Teh Si Yan defeated fellow Malaysians Isyraf Hafizin and Lee Joinne 21-6, 18-21, 21-15 in 43 minutes to also book their place in the final.

In the women’s singles, Thailand’s Kungkaew Kakanik defeated Malaysia’s Lee Kay Xin 22-20, 21-15 in 44 minutes.

Meanwhile, in the men’s singles, Tiew Wei Jie defeated fellow Malaysian Lee Louis 21-14, 21-12 in 44 minutes to advance to the final.
