A youthful Malaysia national team finished their campaign at the Polish International Challenge with a strong sweep of three titles on offer in Gniezno.
New mixed doubles pair, Choong Hon Jian-Toh Ee Wei set the tone with a straightforward 21-16 21-12 victory against Swiss duo, Nicolas Muller-Ronjan Stern.
Hon Jian said: "“This title win definitely boosted my confidence. However, Ee Wei and I still have a lot to learn. I hope to maintain this performance in the next tournament.”
Youngster, Ng Tze Yong then clinched his second career title when he defeated two-time winner, Pablo Abian of Spain 21-19 21-11. For the record, he won his first title in September 2019 at the South Australia International Challenge.
“Happy to have won my first title this year. Going into the match I didn’t feel any pressure because I only wanted to give my best against a more experienced opponent. I hope to be more consistent in the future," said the 20-year-old Johor born Tze Yong.
The third title came in the All-Malaysian men's doubles final. Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun prevailed in a nail-biting 21-17 20-22 21-19 over teammates, Chia Wei Jie-Chang Yee Jun.
Wei Chong who made his comeback from a 9-month lay-off due to a slipped disc injury was pleased to have hit the right note with his new partner, Kai Wun.
"It was a mixture of nerves and excitement as it has been so long without any tournament. It feels great to have won after nine months out due to a slipped disc injury.
"We are a new pair and we have a lot of space to improve. I feel that we can play better. I hope we'll be able to continue our form into the next tournament."
