The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) successfully held the 3rd Council Meeting for the year 2023 and the at the PETRONAS Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara. Below are the notable decisions reached:
NEW PRESIDENT
The BAM Council has also unanimously agreed to elect YB Mulia Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz as the new President of BAM, replacing Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria. The detailed timeline will be discussed internally and announced at the next Council meeting in December 2023.
UPDATED COACHING STRUCTURE
The BAM Council confirms the appointment of Rexy Mainaky as the ABM Director of Coaching. He will oversee both the senior and junior divisions of the national team, ensuring a consistent coaching philosophy across all departments and facilitating the seamless transition of our junior athletes into the senior squad.
The Council welcomes the appointment of Jeffer Rosobin as the new Head of Juniors. Jeffer, a former player who secured the Asian Championships title in 1996 and played a pivotal role in Indonesia's gold medal win at the SEA Games in 1999 will lead the junior squad reporting to Rexy.
