The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is pleased to announce the extension of its partnership with globally renowned badminton equipment brand YONEX until 2028.
This new agreement builds upon the successful collaboration that began in 2021. Initially set to end in 2026, the partnership has been extended ahead of its original expiry, reflecting YONEX’s faith in BAM and a shared commitment to ensuring uninterrupted preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
Under the renewed partnership, YONEX will continue to provide equipment to national players and will serve as the Official Equipment Supplier for the PETRONAS Malaysia Open (BWF World Tour 1000), PERODUA Malaysia Masters, and other BAM-organized tournaments.
“BAM is delighted to continue this partnership with YONEX. Our national players have reaped immense benefits from this collaboration, achieving remarkable milestones such as the men’s doubles World Championship title, victories in multiple BWF World Tour events, World Junior Championship title and the Asian Team Championships over the past three years,” said BAM Acting President, Datuk V. Subramaniam.
YONEX’s support has also extended to the junior development pathway. “YONEX has supported us at all levels, from providing equipment to the BAM players to supporting all our local and junior competitions, this includes the Junior Elite Tour. We are confident the relationship with YONEX will lead to even more successes on the world stage,” added Datuk Subramaniam.
Among the highlights of this partnership was the historic triumph of doubles duo Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, who clinched Malaysia’s first-ever world title in 45 years in Tokyo, Japan. At the junior level, Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing delivered a stellar performance at the World Junior Championships in Nanchang, China, ending the country’s 13-year wait for a gold medal.
BAM and YONEX share a long-standing relationship that began in 2005. After an initial 10-year collaboration, the partnership was revived in 2021 and has since flourished, marking a significant chapter in Malaysian badminton history.
