SUDIRMAN CUP: MALAYSIA BOOK LAST EIGHT SPOT

Malaysia's young guns proved their worth when they bulldozed Egypt 5-0 in their second Group D match to secure their last eight berth at the Sudirman Cup 2021 in Vantaa, Finland.

World No. 49 Chen Tang Jie-Peck Yen Wei got the ball rolling by sweeping past Ahmed Salah-Nur Youssri 21-6 21-7 in just 20 minutes.

Ng Tze Yong then doubled the country's lead through a 24-minute win against Mohamed Mostafa Kamel 21-8 21-2.

The national team confirmed their place in the quarterfinals when women's singles, Eoon Qi Xuan annihilated Doha Hany 21-5 21-7.

In the men's doubles, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun swept past Mostafa-Salah 21-7 21-6 before young women's doubles, Teoh Mei Xing-Yap Ling completed the rout with a trouncing of Doha-Nour 21-4 21-9.

With qualification to the last eight booked, Malaysia will face 2019 Sudirman Cup runners-up, Japan tomorrow at 9pm (MYT) to decide the group champions.
