Malaysia’s Sudirman Cup 2025 campaign came to an end in the quarter-finals following a 0-3 defeat to hosts and defending champions China in Xiamen on Friday.
Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei opened the tie with a determined effort but fell 17-21, 17-21 to Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping.
Leong Jun Hao then faced world No. 1 Shi Yu Qi in the men’s singles but was outplayed 6-21, 14-21 in his quarter-final debut.
K. Letshanaa was handed the responsibility of keeping Malaysia in the tie but could not match Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei, going down 8-21, 7-21 in the women’s singles.
With China sealing the tie at 3-0, the remaining doubles matches were not played.
While the campaign ends here, Team Malaysia showed encouraging signs throughout the tournament — including strong outings from Tang Jie-Ee Wei, and breakout performances by Jun Hao and Letshanaa.
