Malaysia’s junior badminton squad maintained their steady momentum at the Suhandinata Cup 2025 with a convincing 2–0 win over Canada in their second Group C encounter.

The team made a promising start in the opening set, as Datu Anif Datu Asrah and Low Zi Yu combined well to overcome Gabriel Ching and Jadalynn Lee 9–4 in the mixed doubles.

Eng Ler Qi then delivered a composed performance to take the girls’ singles 18–8 against Fulgencia Simons Zhang, before Kong Wei Xiang followed up with a solid 27–15 victory over Shaurya Gullaiya in the boys’ singles.

The boys’ doubles pair Damien Ling–Shazmir Shahrul extended Malaysia’s lead with a 36–17 win against Nathan Yan Shun Lee–Ethan Ho Ting Yen, while Aqila Ramdan–Aina Hatta completed the set with a 45–20 triumph over Catherine Yunyi Pang–Lyric Su in the girls’ doubles.

In the second set, Malaysia continued to perform with composure as Loh Zi Heng–Aqila Ramdan opened with a 9–5 win in the mixed doubles. Oo Shan Zi and Razeeq Roslie added further points with confident victories in the girls’ and boys’ singles respectively.

Loh Zi Heng–Tan Zhi Yang then recorded a 36–14 win in the boys’ doubles before Joinne Lee-Low Zi Yu sealed the tie 45–16 in the girls’ doubles.

With two wins from two matches in Group C, Malaysia remain well-placed to advance to the knockout stage as they continue their campaign with focus and determination.
