After a period of 19 years, the Malaysia national team completed the double swoop at the Taipei Open 2023.
Marauding mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei ousted homesters, Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Lin Xiao Min 21-12, 21-8 to seal their second World Tour title this year.
“We are pleased with the win. Since we did not do well in Indonesia Open, we were focused to play better in Taipei.
"We must thank BAM president Tan Sri Norza Zakaria and BAM for pushing for us to be included in the RTG programme. It definitely a huge motivation for us.
"Thank you to coach Nova and coach Rexy, who always support us. We will stay humble and train harder to get even better results,” said elated Ee Wei.
For the record, Tang Jie-Ee Wei won the Iran International Challenge in February and the Orleans Masters in April. The pair remain as the only Malaysian with a 100 per cent winning record in the finals this year.

Defending champions and world No. 23 Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun saw their hard work pay off today when they clawed back from a game down to win against world No. 15 Lu Ching Yao-Yang Po Han of Taiwan 20-22 21-17 21-14 in the final.
The last time Malaysia achieved the feat was in 2004 when Koo Kien Keat-Chan Chong Ming and Kien Keat-Wong Pei Tty won the men's doubles and the mixed doubles titles respectively.
