The Taipei Open 2026 got underway with a busy opening day, as Malaysian shuttlers began their campaigns in both the qualifying rounds and main draw.

In the main draw, Malaysia's three mixed doubles pairs recorded mixed results.

Chen Tang Jie-Clarissa San survived the Indonesian Renaldi Samosir-Masita Mahmudin’s scare as they marched to the next round after a gritty three-sets victory (21-19, 18-21, 22-20).

Jimmy Wong and Cheng Su Yin, however, bowed out after a 29-minute defeat to Japan's World No. 5 pair Yuta Watanabe and Maya Taguchi (5-21, 17-21).

The same fate befell Wee Yee Hern-Vannee Gobi as they were defeated against the sixth seeds Akira Koga-Natsu Saito of Japan (15-21, 16-21).

For the record, Low Han Chen-Chan Wen Tse and Lee Yi Bo-Lim Chiew Sien were the two Malaysian pairs to advance from the qualifying rounds to the main draw.

Han Chen-Wen Tse will face the home fifth seeds, Liu Kuang Heng-Hsu Yin Hui, while Yi Bo-Chiew Sien are set to battle another home pair, Wu Guan Xun-Lee Chia Hsin, in the Round of 32.
