Four Malaysian representatives faced a demanding day in their quest for semi-final berths, with only two advancing to the last four.

Top seeds Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah produced a commanding straight-games victory over home pair Lin Chih Cun and Yang Chu Yun (21-14, 21-17).

The victory marked their first semi-final appearance together since the All England in March.

Meanwhile, young women's doubles pair Low Zi Yu and Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan saw their impressive run come to an end after a hard-fought defeat to Thailand's Hathaithip Mijad and Napapakorn Tungkasatan (21-11, 20-22, 22-24).

Justin Hoh also missed out on a semi-final berth after a 40-minute contest against Korea's Yoo Tae Bin, falling 17-21, 18-21.

On the other hand, fifth seeds Aaron Chia and Aaron Tai bounced back from a game down to defeat home favourites Lee Jhe Huei and Yang Po Hsuan 15-21, 21-7, 21-18.

The Aarons booked their first semi-final appearance together since debuting as a pair at last week's China Open.
