Wong Ling Ching stormed into the women's singles quarter-finals of Thailand Masters with a 21-18, 21-11 win over the seventh seeds Danish Julie Dawall Jakobsen in Patumwan on Thursday.

In another match, Karupathevan Letshanaa outlasted India’s Shriyanshi Valishetty 21-17, 20-22, 21-19 while Goh Jin Wei upset China’s sixth seeds Han Qian Xi in the rubber set 12-21, 21-10, 21-16.

Letshanaa made her second QF appearance since last week’s Indonesia Masters in Senayan and will now face Jin Wei.

In men’s singles, Lee Zii Jia forced a deciding game against India’s Mithun Manjunath 11-21,  21-16, 21-12 and outlasted the opponent.

It marks Zii Jia’s first QF appearance since the Orleans Masters last year. 

Justin Hoh bowed out after a grueling three-set battle against China’s Zhu Xuan Chen, falling 21-17, 20-22, 21-9 in a match that lasted 70 minutes.

In men’s doubles, Chia Wei Jie-Lwi Sheng Hao brushed aside Thailand’s Peeratchai Sukphun-Pakkapon Teerarattsakul 21-14, 15-21, 21-19, while Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong edged past their Chinese Taipei opponents in straight sets, 21-16, 22-20.

However, Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing bowed out after a closely contested match against Chinese duo Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yi, losing 21-23, 18-21 in 39 minutes. 

Their head-to-head now stands at 3-4.

Mixed doubles pair Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing, however, could not advance to the next round, exiting after a three-set battle against Thailand’s Supak Jomkoh-Ornnicha Jongsathapornpan, 13-21, 21-15, 21-19, in 56 minutes.
