Women’s singles shuttler Goh Jin Wei created history when she became the first ever Malaysian Women’s Singles to qualify for the final event in the BWF World Tour SUPER 300.
Jin Wei beat her compatriot Wong Ling Ching 17-21, 21-17, 21-16 in a three-set thriller.
The match at the Nimibutr Stadium in Thailand lasted 57 minutes.
In the final, the World No. 68 will meet either India’s Devika Sihag or Chinese Taipei’s Huang Yu-Hsun.
Despite the defeat, Ling Ching also achieved a notable milestone, becoming the first Malaysian women’s singles player to qualify for consecutive BWF World Tour semifinals, following her SUPER 500 semifinal appearance last week and SUPER 300 run this week.
Ling Ching will also receive USD 3,625 (RM14,290) for her semifinal finish.
Jin Wei remains the sole Malaysian representative heading into the final tomorrow.
