Once again, the two legends in the badminton world will face each other, however this time around, it is in the second round and not the usual final or semi-finals. The crowd goes wild whenever the name Lee Chong Wei or Lin Dan is mentioned. Thus, fans are surely looking forward for another mouthwatering clash between these two exceptional players at the Yonex Japan Open later this evening.

The reason behind this early meeting between the two of them is due to the eight months break Chong Wei had to take which caused his ranking to fall out of the top 100, hence, giving him no choice but to meet the higher ranked players in the earlier rounds. Lin Dan has caused many nightmares for Chong Wei especially in the 2012 Olympics and 2013 World Championships finals, the Chinese always catching up at the very last minute to win the match in a very close margin. The local fans very much hope for their hero to turn the tables around.

In the mixed doubles, Chan Peng Soon/ Goh Liu Ying were beaten by world champion, Zhang Nan/ Zhao Yun Lei in the second round this morning while mens’ doubles, Tan Wee Kiong/ Goh V Shem were through the quarter-finals with a convincing win against Kim Astrup/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark. The 2014 Asian Games bronze medalist will have another chance to avenge their defeat when they meet Indonesians, Angga Pratama/ Rikck Karanda Suwardi whom they have so far lost twice this year.
