Malaysia secured their spot in the last eight of the Thomas Cup Finals with an impressive 5-0 victory over Algeria in the team's second Group D encounter.

The national team encountered minimal resistance against the underdog Algerian team, with Lee Zii Jia setting the tone with a commanding 21-8 21-6 triumph in the first singles on Sunday.

Cheam June Wei extended Malaysia's lead by defeating Youcef Sabri with a scoreline of 21-9 21-14 in the second singles.

Choong Hon Jian and Mohd Haikal Nazri further solidified Malaysia's dominance, securing victory with a convincing 21-10 21-14 win over Sifeddine Larbaoui and Mohamed Abdelaziz Ouchefoun.

In the third singles, twenty-year-old Justin Hoh continued Malaysia's winning streak by overcoming Mohamed Abderrahime Belarbi with a score of 21-10 21-14, bringing the tally to 4-0.

The rout was completed by the scratch pair of skipper Soh Wooi Yik and Nur Izzudddin Rumsani, who sealed the victory with a comprehensive 21-13 21-9 win over Koceila Mammeri and Youcef Sabri.

Next, Malaysia will face Denmark on Tuesday (April 30) to conclude their group stage matches.

While both teams are assured of progressing to the quarter-finals, the outcome of the tie will determine the group champion and subsequent seeding.
