Malaysia faced a challenging start in the Uber Cup Finals, succumbing to a 1-4 defeat against Taiwan in their opening Group B encounter.

Goh Jin Wei showcased resilience in a tightly contested battle against world No. 5 Tai Tzu-ying in the first singles, narrowly losing with a scoreline of 19-21 20-22.

The Malaysian team received a glimmer of hope when the scratch pair of Teoh Mei Xing and Go Pei Kee secured a notable victory over world No. 24 Hsu Ya-ching and Lin Wan-ching in the first doubles, clinching the match with a score of 21-19 21-17.

In a closely fought second singles match, K Letshanaa displayed determination against Wen Chi-hsu but ultimately conceded defeat with a score of 21-13 17-21 16-21 in a 57-minute encounter, allowing Taiwan to regain the advantage.

The young Malaysian pair of Tan Zhing Yi and Ho Lo Ee faced a crucial challenge in the second doubles, needing a win to keep the tie alive. However, they were unable to seize the moment and suffered a loss with a scoreline of 17-21 11-21 against Hung Ling-fang and Teng Chun-hsun.

Wrapping up the tie, Wong Ling Ching put up a commendable performance in the third singles but fell short with a score of 17-21 20-22 against Sung Shuo-yun.

Despite the setback, Malaysia remains determined to bounce back in their upcoming matches in the Uber Cup Finals.
